CAP 3000 car park: the biggest car park ever built Cofraplus® 60

ArcelorMittal Construction supplied nearly 100,000 m² of Cofraplus® 60 flooring to construct the CAP 3000 multi-storey car park in Saint-Laurent-du-Var, near Nice (France).

From 2,800 to 4,900 parking spaces

After years of waiting, the CAP 3000 shopping centre was granted planning permission in 2014 for a substantial extension. As part of this major restructuring project, the former 2,800 parking spaces on one level, was increased to 4,900 with the construction of a five-storey car park.

The very short lead time imposed by the client quickly ruled out the concrete-based solutions initially envisaged; only a steel frame could meet such rigorous requirements. With more than 10 years’ experience in steel-concrete structures for multi-storey car parks, ArcelorMittal is perfectly placed to play a key part in this transformation. The use of composite flooring systems is now standard for this type of car park.

100,000 m² of Cofraplus® 60

The car park required the delivery of 100,000 m² of Cofraplus® 60 flooring in just five months, starting in mid-March. Briand, in association with Vinci Construction, is the company that has taken up the challenge of completing this impressive and outstanding seaside project.

With a surface area of 70,000 m², the largest multi-storey car park before Cap 3000 was the Silo 2 car park built in 2010 at Toulouse-Blagnac airport, also in Cofraplus® 60, the industry standard in this field.

Since the end of 2015 ,CAP 3000 holds the new French record for the largest multi-storey car park.

Here are a few examples of car park projects involving Cofraplus®:
