In connection with the Grand Paris Urban Renewal Project, the biggest warehouse in Paris was recently entirely refurbished. ArcelorMittal Construction France and ArcelorMittal Europe – Long Products were among the contributors of this project.
A huge conversion project
The Grand Paris Urban Renewal Project (GPRU) which was launched in March 2002, aims to improve the quality of life and city infrastructure in the Parisian suburbs. In this context, Macdonald warehouse, built in 1970 and covering 165,000m² in the North-East of Paris went under a major makeover and is one of the biggest multi-purpose “live, work, play, shop” venues in France.

ArcelorMittal Construction France played a key part in this project as from 2009, working closely with ICADE, a major player in the Grand Paris regional development project. We offered the right steel solutions and technical expertise to the SICRA-GTM company (part of the Vinci Group) and supplied:

All the beams were produced in Luxembourg and delivered by Eurostructures, the beam finishing service of Differdange.
Steel composite solutions were mainly used on the upper floors while the others were built with concrete. Nonetheless, Macdonald warehouse renovation is a great example of composite construction in the Paris area.
