  • Increasing productivity with steel

Soil working equipment

Modern farmers are constantly seeking ways to increase productivity. One of the ways they achieve this is by working larger areas in one pass. This requires more powerful tractors and soil-working equipment with a larger span. However, this increases the stress on soil-working equipment such as ploughs, harrows and seed drills.

To minimise the stress on the equipment, the frame of the machine can be reinforced using thicker sections or made with high strength steels (HSS).

HSS such as ArcelorMittal’s Amstrong® range limits the thickness and weight increase. This option is increasingly popular with farmers as it reduces fuel use and provides the extra advantage of better manoeuvrability.
