ArcelorMittal at CWIEME 2016

The demand for new electrical machines is becoming more and more stringent due to energy efficiency requirements both in automotive (CO2 reduction) and industry (Ecodesign directives).

ArcelorMittal presented at CWIEME 2016 in Berlin a number of leading steel solutions as well as innovations in its engineering services to strongly support manufacturers in the development of the electrical machines of the future.

Among the products on the spotlight this year, we can mention:

  • Our iCARe® grades specifically designed for hybrid and electric traction machines for automotive, with our Save low losses range to reduce heat and noise losses, and our high permeability Torque range to allow fastest accelerations
  • Non oriented very low loss grades such as M 230-50 A in 0.5 mm, M 290-65 A in 0.65 mm and M210-35A in 0.35 mm which are especially designed for large power generating machines.

This year participation was also marked by innovations in our engineering services. This was the topic of the conference led by Sigrid Jacobs, who unveiled the availability of ArcelorMittal electrical steel data in the JMAG leading simulation software suite for electrical machines design. This partnership offers a unique opportunity for electrical machines manufacturers to shorten the lead time of their new designs, reduce the number of prototypes and decrease their overall development costs.
