ArcelorMittal’s high added value steel sheet used for the renovation of Gliwice station

ArcelorMittal Europe contributes to the modernisation of yet another Polish station by supplying Floline double side painted Hairplus®/Hairplus® trapezoidal sheet for the renovation of the Gliwice station.

A hub for rail transport

Gliwice station is one of the most important railway stations in Poland, it is connected to the most important Polish cities and is also a hub for the regional railway transport. From Gliwice you can access major European cities such as Hamburg, Berlin, or Kiev. Thanks to the renovation, which started in August 2015, the station will adjust to modern standards of comfort, and will be equipped with modern installations as well as passenger information systems.

Floline: exclusive HAV product by ArcelorMittal Construction Poland

ArcelorMittal Construction Poland delivered Floline trapezoidal sheet coated on both sides with Hairplus® to build the roof of the platforms. The profile is made in Poland by ArcelorMittal Construction and produced in Swietochlowice.

Floline is a unique high added value (HAV) arched trapezoidal sheet that very few manufacturers can offer. It is aesthetically pleasing and our system of curved sheets is the ideal solution for long span curved roofs as it allows to create a much larger span compared to traditional trapezoidal sheet. Moreover, as it is impossible to use flat sheets and bend them on site for such an architectural form, the product is pre-curved in the production plant before delivery.

Visibility for ArcelorMittal Europe

The full project, estimated to €32 million, involves the modernisation of the railway station and related infrastructure (platforms, tracks, roofing and tunnel crossings) and is a great opportunity to put our arc system in the spotlight. The EU’s Operational Programme Infrastructure & Environment, which finance this project, allowed the upgrade of several key railway stations in Poland including Wroclaw central station, renovated with Cofraplus®.

The development of the railway station and four platforms was finalised in April 2016. The arc system Floline was in the spotlight during Budma 2016 in Poznań.
