ArcelorMittal returns to InnoTrans

From 20 to 23 September, ArcelorMittal Europe – Long Products Rails & Special sections participated in InnoTrans 2022, the leading event for transport technology and mobility, organised in Berlin, Germany. Coming back to InnoTrans after four years was an opportunity for the Rails team to share our recent developments for the urban transport and crane rail sectors.

Success for the first InnoTrans fair since 2018

All the key players of the rail industry gathered at InnoTrans, the international trade fair for transport technology and mobility in Berlin. InnoTrans attracts railway customers from all around the world: railway administrations, municipalities, turnout makers, engineering and construction companies. The main topics for this edition were alternative driving systems, battery-electric and fuel cell-powered buses and trains.

The four-day event brought 2,834 exhibitors from 56 countries who presented their entire range of products and services for the mobility sector. Amongst the exhibits were 250 world innovations, 128 vehicles and 14 buses. Additionally, 137,394 visitors from 131 countries came to the event.

Latest innovations and prestigious guests

The teams of Rails and Special sections and WireSolutions came together to the event to meet key players for the railway sector and share our recent developments, such as:

  • RailCor®, our family of corrosion resistant rails,
  • new R340 crane rail grade, top wear performance for an increased service life for heavy loads
  • our complete range of Low Carbon Vanadium grades for grooved rails
  • Atak™ Endura fencing protection for railway, road and sensitive sites.

We also reinforced our commitment to become carbon neutral by 2050, aligned with the Paris climate goals and the European Green Deal.

On our two-storey booth, composed of a main open space with a conference area, five meeting rooms, and a digital corner with tablets to promote our Rail Tool app, our teams met more than 350 visitors, including key players from the main rail companies.

Further discussions in the Speakers’ Corner

Our rail experts took part in three conferences during the fair:

  • “From Lab to Track”: ArcelorMittal Global R&D trends in railway sector, where we presented our Global R&D Rail Excellence Center and the latest developments to meet railway trends
  • Top wear performance for an increased service life for heavy loads, focused on why R340 is a top wear resistance rail for the crane rail sector
  • Increased service life and environmental solutions for light rail transit operators, where we presented our complete range of low carbon vanadium grades for grooved rails which provide better performance and increased service life for light rail transit operators.

Overall, InnoTrans 2022 was a success, the Rails teams received excellent feedback for the organisation and design of the stand.

“InnoTrans is the key event for ArcelorMittal within the global rail transport industry; it is a unique opportunity, every two years, to meet in one place customers from all over the world, with more than 120 face to face meetings, and to showcase our latest developments in Rails.” concluded Tapas Rajderkar, CMO of ArcelorMittal Europe – Long Products.
