ArcelorMittal helps to promote a Netflix TV show

Apart from being an important city in the South of France, Marseille is also a French TV series starring Gérard Depardieu broadcast on Netflix in May 2016. For the promotion of the show, nine giant letters made with ArcelorMittal steel and spelling Marseille were installed on a hill overlooking the city and visible from the sea, in a reference to the famous Hollywood sign in Los Angeles.

It took two months in total to set up a « Hollywood » type of sign on a hill in Marseille. The works were realised by Trametal, a company specialised in boilermaking, based on the designs created by a Parisian communications agency. Trametal, being a regular customer of ArcelorMittal Downstream Solutions in Avignon, naturally applied to us to buy steel.

The nine letters were cut in 850m² of cladding sheets produced by ArcelorMittal Construction in Haironville and delivered by the Downstream Solutions agency in Avignon to Trametal plant in Salon-de-Provence, near Marseille.

The result is impressive: nine letters of 13.7 m high and more than 100 m long overlooking the city of Marseille. They are now part of the heritage of Marseille and attract many tourists.
