ArcelorMittal at TechDay at ZF

On 24 October, ArcelorMittal Europe – Long Products Bars & rods participated in a TechDay organised by the Lightweight Forging Initiative, a cooperation of companies from the steel and forging industries, and ZF Friedrichshafen AG, a German car parts maker.

ArcelorMittal Europe – Long Products Bars & rods took part in the event organised at ZF Friedrichshafen AG’s headquarters in Germany and presented our product portfolio and our latest developments from R&D. This TechDay was also the opportunity to:

  • increase Bars & rods’ visibility by having a direct contact with ZF’s engineers interested in forging steels applications (chassis, powertrain) and in fasteners
  • interacting with members of ZF’s consortium in which we have many direct customers using our products

The teams were present at Friedrichshafen with a booth promoting our innovations. Our researchers – Bruno Cofino, Véronique Smanio and François-Xavier Hoche from ArcelorMittal Global R&D – were able to network with ZF’s experts and discuss our solutions (steels for transmission, other bainitic steels, steels for fasteners). Dr. Cofino also gave a presentation on lightweight solutions for steering knuckle.

This TechDay was organised by Lightweight Forging Initiative, a cooperation of companies from the steel and forging industries and ZF Friedrichshafen AG, one of the worldwide top 10 TIER1 of the automotive industry.
