Dishwasher rear panels require steels with high mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.
High Strength Low Alloy steels (HSLA) are characterised by their low content of both carbon and micro-alloying elements. This gives HSLA steels outstanding functional properties, such as weldability and coatability. The hardening achieved by controlled internal purity and fine grain size structure ensures excellent mechanical strength. HSLA combine improved weldability with good formability. The narrow variation margins for their mechanical properties make it easy to shape the steel (presses or automated lines). They also have good fatigue and impact resistance. HSLA combined with Magnelis® corrosion protection (HX340LAD+ZM) is the best offer for this application.
Magnelis® is a flat carbon steel product coated on both sides with a zinc-aluminium-magnesium alloy. The coating is composed of approximately 93.5% zinc, 3.5% aluminium and 3% magnesium and is applied by means of a continuous hot dip galvanising process. Because of the nature and the particular structure of its coating, Magnelis® is characterised by very good ductility and excellent forming performance. It is therefore recommended for parts requiring severe deep drawing. The presence of magnesium in the coating makes the corrosion resistance of Magnelis® significantly higher than that of standard hot dip galvanised steel of equivalent thickness. Magnelis® offers excellent edge corrosion resistance.
Easyfilm® has a dry appearance. Its essential role is to keep the metallic coating corrosion-free during storage, to withstand fingerprints, facilitate forming and allow direct painting (without pre-treatment).
