ArcelorMittal showcased its latest steel solutions for the solar industry at Intersolar Europe 2026. At the heart of its presence was Magnelis®, the company's metallic coating technology, which has been supporting solar projects worldwide for 15 years and continues to evolve to meet the industry's growing requirements.
As solar deployment accelerates globally, project developers and manufacturers face increasing demands in terms of durability, corrosion protection, cost efficiency and sustainability. ArcelorMittal continues to enhance its Magnelis® portfolio to help customers address these challenges and deliver long lasting solar installations.
At Intersolar Europe 2026, ArcelorMittal demonstrated how advanced steel solutions contribute to building the next generation of solar projects by combining durability, engineering expertise, cost efficiency and sustainability. Visitors to the ArcelorMittal stand had the opportunity to learn more about the latest developments in Magnelis®, explore application case studies and discuss future challenges and opportunities for the solar industry.
"The solar industry continues to evolve at a rapid pace, bringing new technical and environmental requirements. For 15 years, Magnelis® has helped our customers build reliable and cost effective solar installations, and we continue to develop our solutions to support the next generation of solar projects," says Jean Louis Remlinger, Segment Manager Solar, ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products.
Proven performance in the most demanding environments
Since its launch, Magnelis® has established itself as a benchmark solution for solar applications. The coating is used worldwide in utility scale solar parks, rooftop installations and a wide range of other solar projects. It delivers proven performance in challenging environments, including highly corrosive atmospheres, aggressive soil conditions and regions exposed to demanding climatic conditions. To meet increasingly stringent industry requirements, ArcelorMittal has continuously expanded its offering. Today, the portfolio ranges from ZM310 to ZM800+, enabling reliable performance in applications that require enhanced corrosion protection and extended service life.
Greater performance with reduced material use
Alongside coating innovations, ArcelorMittal offers high strength steel grades specifically designed for solar structures. With grades up to S700GD-HyPer®, available exclusively from ArcelorMittal, customers can significantly reduce structure weight and material consumption.
These solutions help optimise overall project costs, improve installation efficiency and maintain the highest standards of reliability and structural performance.
Supporting the solar industry's sustainability ambitions
Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important factor in solar projects. To support customers' decarbonisation goals, Magnelis® is also available in XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel. Compared with conventionally produced steel, this solution can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 64 percent while maintaining the performance and durability required for demanding solar applications.
Supporting the entire solar value chain
Magnelis® is used across a wide range of solar applications, including rooftop systems, utility scale projects, ground mounted structures and embedded poles in corrosive soils. The solution also supports emerging applications such as steel module frames, solar roofs and integrated green roof systems, helping customers address new opportunities in renewable energy generation.
