First Mardyck electrical steel coil successfully punched at R.Bourgeois

ArcelorMittal has reached another important milestone in the ramp-up of its new electrical steels facility in Mardyck, France. The first coil produced on the site’s new production line has been successfully punched on June 25, by R.Bourgeois, a key partner in the electrical steels value chain.

This achievement follows the production of the first industrial coil in March and the first customer shipments in recent weeks. This validation demonstrates the quality and performance of the material in a customer application and represents a significant step toward the full industrial ramp-up of the facility. The milestone further strengthens ArcelorMittal’s ability to support growing demand for electrical steels used in electric mobility and energy-efficient technologies.

The visit to R.Bourgeois gave colleagues from the Mardyck site the opportunity to follow their steel through the customer’s production process. It also underlined the close collaboration between both companies and their shared commitment to supporting the development of high-performance electrical steel solutions for e-mobility, renewable energy and other key applications linked to the energy transition.

This successful punching test is the result of strong teamwork across all stages of the project, from construction and commissioning to production, logistics and customer support. It also reflects the importance of trusted industrial partnerships in bringing innovative materials from production to real-world applications.
