The RE+ (Renewable Energy/Solar Show), held in Anaheim, California from September 10-12, 2024, marked its largest event in its 20-year history. Attracting over 40,000 visitors, the event featured 1,300 exhibitors and hosted 370 educational seminars, underscoring the growing momentum behind renewable energy. This year’s RE+ focused on solar energy alongside key areas like energy storage, hydrogen, microgrids, EV charging infrastructure, and wind energy.

This was ArcelorMittal’s third participation in RE+, with a booth focusing on “Sustainable Solutions in Steel” and highlighting two of our innovations:
Our presence was supported by teams from our global operations, including representatives from ArcelorMittal International, ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products, Dofasco (Canada), North America (USA), and ArcelorMittal Global R&D East Chicago.
The booth fostered meaningful engagement and discussions with both current and potential customers. These conversations not only emphasised the advantages of Magnelis® in the North American and global markets but also introduced our XCarb™ steels to a broader audience. These sustainable steel solutions offer lower carbon and CO2 footprints, reflecting ArcelorMittal’s commitment to a more sustainable future.
In addition to the booth, the East Chicago R&D team presented a technical poster titled “Benefits and sustainability of using higher strength steel posts for solar applications.” The research, conducted in collaboration with ArcelorMittal Global R&D and CRM Group in Europe, focused on the use of higher-strength steel for solar applications, drawing significant interest from industry professionals, particularly profilers. The work demonstrated how innovative steel products like Magnelis® can enhance the performance and sustainability of solar structures.
RE+ 2024 demonstrated that Magnelis® is the industry gold standard for solar structures. Its superior corrosion resistance and sustainability benefits have made it a preferred material for profilers. The show also highlighted growing interest in Magnelis® for non-solar uses, further expanding its market potential. XCarb™ also garnered attention at the event, and several solar manufacturers have already begun adopting low-carbon XCarb™ steel products, reflecting the industry’s shift towards more sustainable materials in solar energy production.
Magnelis® and XCarb™ captured the attention of attendees and the use of Magnelis® coated steel for PV module frames was highlighted. With a focus on innovation, sustainability, and customer engagement, ArcelorMittal continues to play a crucial role in shaping the future of solar energy and beyond.
