On 20 and 21 November, ArcelorMittal had a notable participation in MetalMadrid 2024, the leading event focused on industrial transformation and technology, which took place at the IFEMA trade fair and exhibition centre in Madrid. At this year’s event, which featured a total of 625 exhibitors and received more than 13,500 visitors, the industrial sector reaffirmed its commitment to decarbonisation and sustainable innovation.
With a stand at a privileged location close to the entrance to the exhibition centre, ArcelorMittal’s team welcomed a large number of visitors interested in our XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel with Magnelis® coating and in ArcelorMittal e-steel, Distribución Iberia’s online sales platform which, with its new Marketplace, opens the door to new online business opportunities for the steel industry.
Both ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products’ team and our colleagues from Distribution Iberia described their participation at MetalMadrid as highly positive and underlined that the event provided an excellent opportunity for interaction with customers, suppliers and leading operators in the sector, further strengthening our commitment to advance towards a more sustainable and efficient future.
Committed to Net Zero
One of the highlights of the trade fair was a panel discussion on the theme “Towards Net Zero: Innovation as a lever to achieve and lead change”, where Gonzalo Delgado, Chief Marketing Officer, ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products Region South, shared the stage with representatives of companies such as Aritex and Plastic Repair System. At the round table, participants discussed key strategies to achieve industrial decarbonisation and outlined the essential measures that need to be implemented by the institutions to effectively support the sustainable transformation of our sector. As Gonzalo Delgado underlined, “it is crucial that Europe closely monitor the implementation of appropriate industrial policies so as to avoid making the mistake of decarbonising at the expense of deindustrialising, and protect the environment while at the same time preserving industry, jobs and its ability to play leading role in the global economy”.
