Explore the city of Valencia thanks to our rails

ArcelorMittal Europe – Long Products has completed delivery of 8,000 metres of grooved rails for the extension of Metrovalencia’s line 10 in Spain.

In 1988, Valencia became the third city in Spain to have an underground metro network. Thanks to the extension of tram and metro line 10 – with two kilometres of additional track and 8 new stops – inhabitants of the district of Nazareth will be able to reach the center of Valencia.

Grooved rails from Rodange

In 2021, our grooved rails were trusted by the Iberian market thanks to their performance and low carbon impact. Rails and Special Sections’ mill of Rodange, Luxembourg, produced and supplied 8,000 metres of 18-m 60R1 grooved rails (more than 480 tonnes) to customer Copcisa, S.A-Vialobra S.L UTE.

The entire lot is made of Low Carbon R290V steel grade. This grade means less carbon content for better performance, including easy maintenance, welding and repair welding, increasing the service life of embedded rail. Thanks to its characteristics, the rails of Metrovalencia will have a more sustainable use.

"At ArcelorMittal, we are convinced the use of R290V steel grade on embedded tracks will bring added benefits to our customers, allowing for gauge corner restoration, increased wear resistance, and easier overall maintenance of the rails!" explained Juan José Gainza, product development manager.
