Cristina de Lucas, CMO Electrical Steel and Automotive Sales Director, ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products and the ArcelorMittal electrical steels team were at the event to discuss the latest developments in ArcelorMittal’s electrical steels product and service offering for e-mobility and industry applications.
ArcelorMittal’s second electrical steels production facility is coming on-stream at Mardyck in France later in 2025, which will triple our electrical steels production capacity up to 300,000 tonnes per annum. This will complement the electrical steels investment and upgrades at the company’s existing Saint-Chély-d’Apcher plant in southern France. The new production line is designed to deliver high-end electrical steels offer for both industrial and e-mobility applications.

Sustainability continues to be a major focus for ArcelorMittal as it progresses towards its goal to be net zero by 2050. A key part of its product offering is the provision of XCarb® steel certificates, which customers can use to reduce their own Scope 3 emissions. ArcelorMittal is investing significantly in decarbonisation initiatives to reduce CO2 emissions in its blast furnace operations. These savings can then be passed on to customers in the form of a certificate verified by an independent auditor.
