From robust supporting structures for solar roofs to complete systems and highly CO2-reduced solutions: At Intersolar, taking place in Munich from May 7 to 9, ArcelorMittal presented its wide range of products in hall 6, stand 211.

At the world's leading solar industry get-together, the focus was on corrosion protection for structures for photovoltaic systems. When selecting the material for this, factors such as high durability, low maintenance costs and high stability are of crucial importance. With its coated Magnelis® steel, ArcelorMittal offers an efficient product for installations that meet challenging expected lifetime, both in atmospheric as well as in soil conditions.
Magnelis® is also available in the XCarb® variant with a significantly lower carbon footprint. In this process, the steel is not produced in a conventional blast furnace, but with recycled scrap and renewable energy in an electric arc furnace, enabling to reduce the CO2 footprint by 64%. Thanks to life cycle analysis performed, the contribution to carbon payback reduction has been demonstrated. The CO2 reduction of the XCarb® steel is certified by environmental product declaration (EPD). In addition, in line with the circular economy, many products can be reused multiple times and are fully recyclable. With the XCarb® initiative, ArcelorMittal is combining all its decarbonisation initiatives with the goal of achieving net zero by 2050.
Expected lifetime of solar structures is constantly increasing driven by longer operation plans and repowering potential of solar plants. For ground mounted utility scale projects, Magnelis® ZM430, ZM620 and ZM800 coated steel are massively adopted for poles buried in soils as time & cost saving solution with guarantees up to 25 years. ArcelorMittal is also guaranteeing aerial Magnelis® parts up to 35 years.
