ArcelorMittal Belgium is looking for "hackers" and “game developers” who will be given 36 hours to solve an industry-based topic within the framework of the theme "safety", in a creative way. This second hackathon of ArcelorMittal Belgium will take place in Brussels, starting from Saturday morning September 22 until Sunday afternoon September 23. The word hackathon is a combination of "hack", which stands for optimizing a program, and "marathon". During a hackathon event, there is team collaboration on a certain topic or problem.
Industry 4.0 plays a central role within our ArcelorMittal Belgium sites, with the aim of becoming the 'smart plant of the future'. As a high-tech and innovative company, we actively deploy the latest techniques in the collection, processing, visualization and analysis of all kinds of (process) data on a daily basis. These data contribute, among other things, to a safer and more efficient organization.
During this years' Challenge, the participants will be faced with the task of raising the ArcelorMittal Belgium safety bar even further. Very challenging and modern technologies such as chatbots, artificial intelligence and methods to deal with natural speech and text in a structured way are to be used. In doing so, we want to lay the foundations for the digital safety assistant of the future.
The event is aimed at students and enterprising young adults. The hackathon is open to 70 participants. Registration is possible as a team. Great prizes are to be won. In addition, we also offer the participants the opportunity to learn from absolute experts in the field as our supporting partners of the event are the universities of Mons, Leuven and Brussels.
