ArcelorMittal Poland becomes official sponsor of Zagłębie Sports Park in Sosnowiec

A modern, multidisciplinary sports park in the centre of Zagłębie has a new official partner – ArcelorMittal Poland. As the biggest complex of its kind in Poland, the Zagłębie Sports Park in Sosnowiec has facilities that meet the criteria for Polish sport leagues and the International Sports Federation.

Sanjay Samaddar, chairman of the board of directors, ArcelorMittal Poland, expressed his enthusiasm for the sponsorship, saying: "Our relations with the city's authorities have always been very positive, which makes us believe that this cooperation will be successful. We hope this centre will serve not only the citizens of Sosnowiec, but also the entire region and even the country."

As the largest steel producer in Poland, ArcelorMittal Poland's five-year partnership with the park is an extension of the company's corporate responsibility goal "to be actively present in the communities where we operate, where a majority of our employees live", as highlighted by Mr Samaddar.

The complex covers 15 hectares and includes a football stadium, an ice rink, a sports stadium, restaurants, shops and a sports museum, among other attractions. The facilities will also be used to host fairs, concerts, conferences and outdoor events. Construction began in 2019, and the facilities will soon be available for the community to enjoy.

"Having such an extraordinary sports complex, we are glad that an extraordinary and very sustainable company is our main sponsor," said Karina Skowronek, the park's president. The park's official name, which will include "ArcelorMittal", will be announced in the coming months.
