ArcelorMittal at Bauma 2019

All segments of ArcelorMittal Europe participated in Bauma this year. ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products and Industeel put in the spotlight their ultra-high strength and wear-resistant steels for building the construction equipments of the future and ArcelorMittal Europe – Long Products presented the new Sheet Piling solutions initiative, and a new range of wire ropes

The best high strength steels for construction equipments

Construction and mining equipment require steels with excellent strength and toughness and extra abrasion resistance for the parts in contact with soil. With a highly competitive yellow and green goods market, ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products and Industeel made sure to highlight three of our main products for mechanical equipments in hall 6, stand 534.

Amstrong® Ultra enables manufacturers to reduce steel thickness and weight in mobile equipment. Geert Van Heirseele, product manager, explained “Many companies think that the hardest high strength steels are difficult to process. At Bauma, we proved them that the latest Amstrong® Ultra generations are easy to cut, easy to bend and easy to weld. We are convinced they will open the door for new and innovative applications.” Relia® is ArcelorMittal’s range of high hardness, low-alloyed martensitic steels, offering outstanding resistance to abrasion, while offering a significant weight reduction. This year, the stand featured real samples and videos, focusing on the enhanced processing capabilities of the steel in terms of bending, cutting and welding. Creusabro® is another product that was showcased at Bauma. It is an advanced impact and abrasion resistant steel, providing optimal solutions that translate into major savings in fabrication and maintenance costs, increased productivity and enhanced machine performance.

David Quidort from Industeel participated to the Bauma forum where he gave a presentation focussed on “Toughness, resistance and up to 40% weight reduction thanks to high strength steel grades”.

Think steel first!

ArcelorMittal Europe – Long Products was also at the event with Sheet Piling, WireSolutions and Threaded bars all present in hall C5 (dedicated to building materials and accessories), stand 338.

With an audience mainly composed of piling contractors and civil-engineering companies, Bauma was for Sheet Piling and WireSolutions the opportunity to:

  • promote our new products: Sky37 (high non-rotating ropes) and Klondike (ropes for deep shaft mine) and increase our visibility
  • meet customers and partners (piling equipment manufacturers)
  • raise brand awareness and reach new potential customers
  • and introduce the “ArcelorMittal Sheet Piling Solutions – Think steel first!” application-based marketing approach promoting steel sheet piling solutions in 4 application domains:
    • Water transport solutions
    • Hazard protection solutions
    • Mobility infrastructure solutions
    • Environmental protection solutions

Apart from brochures and videos, the design of the stand was fully dedicated to promote our products and solutions with:

  • a welcome desk made with HZ-M piles
  • a mini-golf playing ground made from steel sheet piles
  • wall decoration composed of eye-catching application pictures illustrating different types of infrastructures built with sheet piles or using mining and hoisting ropes
  • a wall-large display of all the different profiles in 100% size
  • podiums with rope samples

Other features included an interactive screen and a virtual reality experience to highlight the benefits of steel sheet piles bridge abutments and steel sections for medium-span bridges.
